Viking knit is also known as Trichinopoly chain. It originated in the 9th century in Scandinavia and was highly prized by the Nordic kings. It was used to make bracelets, necklaces, trim for clothing and other decorative items.

Gold is for the mistress -- silver for the maid --
Copper for the craftsman cunning at his trade."
"Good!" said the Baron, sitting in his hall,
"But Iron -- Cold Iron -- is master of them all."

-Rudyard Kipling

I handmade this wallet chain from 21 gauge black iron wire and added antique bronze cones featuring Celtic knot work and blue swarovski crystals at the ends and stainless clasps to hook to your wallet and belt loop. It is beautiful and durable and makes a great accessory for your wallet. It's approximately 24 1/2 inches long and 9/32 inches thick.
