Description

This abstract print was created using a hand-etched (drypoint) plexiglass plate and chine colle. The plexiglass plate is a rough, offset grid that refines the industrial process (essentially gouging the plexiglass) with an artist's touch.

I chose red colle paper as the background to meet the requirements for the Red Handed art show in Denver, CO, where each piece had to be at least 50% red. The blue and yellow colle polygons complement the inexactness of the black grid - geometric forms in a chaotic setting.

The print for sale here is an "artist proof" meaning that it is one step removed from the final print. In most cases, including this one, the "artist proof" is made to ensure everything works, and the final or "edition" prints are made immediately afterward. The final print of Untitled (Grid on Red) received an honorable mention at the Red Handed show and is available for sale (framed, please use the Custom Order button on the main store page for more information).

The image is 6" x 6" printed on 11" x 15" paper. These are archival-quality papers and ink, and if displayed or stored properly this print will last for hundreds of years. It is shipped bagged with a foam board backing.
