DO YOU KNOW the difference between "SILVER" and "STERLING" ?
If a piece of jewelry is marked "SILVER" it really isn't telling you a lot. It could contain a very low percentage of pure silver, or it could be virtually 100% pure sterling.
Sterling is at least .925 pure silver mixed with other alloys. If a piece is stamped ".925" or "Sterling" you know it has a very high degree of pure Silver.
In the past, here in the USA, if a piece was stamped "925" or "Sterling" it meant it was solid sterling. However, in some country's it is perfectly legal to stamp ".925" or "Sterling" on a piece that is merely plated sterling, (a thin layer or sterling on top of another metal) and those pieces are shipped to the US regularly, and have been for some time.
You can test it with acids to find how pure it is. Or often times, you can simply tell by the vintage and the origins of the piece. In old Mexico they hand made jewelry with a very high degree of pure Silver, most of it Sterling (.925 pure silver) or better, frequently it was .980 pure silver, because it was a little softer and easier to hand craft. They were not doing any silver-plate.

Shipping was quick! Tried out the cloth on silver & brass...very slow process to remove tarnish. Found brass & silver polish cream worked better.
