Description

TITLE: Denali Dresser
SIZE: 69"x31"x19"

Yes, I design furniture in addition to being a photographer. Until I open another etsy furniture specific shop in the near future I'll be posting new pieces in my photo shop. I also travel all over the US and beyond to shoot weddings and if you're interested in wedding photography visit my website www.danielmcquadephotography.com to see where the whole breadth of my work outside of fine art has taken me.

The piece above is a prototype so orders will be for a new piece either with the design as shown or a completely new one. Specify what you would prefer in a message and I'll be glad to help with the design process.

*UPDATE: I've started offering a payment plan option to this listing. You'll have the 12-14 week span it takes to make and ship the dresser to pay it off completely. Once the last payment is received the item will ship when it's ready.

ABOUT THIS PIECE: I'm highly inspired by nature and there's hardly anything more beautiful to me than a majestic mountain range. Growing up in the mountains in WV we moved to Houston a few years ago and you wouldn't believe how much I miss that landscape. To bring a little touch of reminiscent natural beauty to our home I wanted to design my own furniture that was based on what I was drawn to most, and thus was born my mountain themed furniture. This dresser is the follow up to a headboard that was the first piece in the series. The size of the dresser above is full size at roughly 69"x31"x19". It has a total of 6 drawers, 2 shallow and 4 deep that come out to full length for easy access. All of them are equipped with soft close sliders for a nice high end touch. The mountain design on the front of the drawers goes together similarly to a puzzle so when you open and close a drawer each one fits back in place in a unique way.

I wanted to create a striking contrast of texture, color, and composition so I used alternating patterns along with a combination of stains and white washing. Above all I wanted to make it modern in style. It had to look in its element either on a rustic cabin wall in Utah or in a high end apartment in NY. Nearly all of the wood in the piece (except for the frame the boards are attached to and plywood drawer buttons and sides) is from reclaimed pallet boards. Even the drawers themselves are made of pallet boards and have tons of character. The drawer bottoms are made with a great 1/4 plywood that complements them nicely. I love the differences in width, thickness, texture, and character of these boards. I leave the nail heads in the wood and it only adds to its rustic appeal. The holes, splits, knots and imperfections are what make each piece totally unique. No two are the same.

ORDERS: Each piece is completely custom from start to finish. It's an incredibly time consuming project and you can expect in the range of a 12-14 week turnaround time. If you would like a particular pattern for the mountains you can send me your ideas and I can collaborate with you for your particular vision. If you would like to keep the pattern you see above I can match it closely but it's not an exact science when working with these unique boards. You can opt to receive a pattern concept before beginning for approval so that you can have some say in what your final piece will look like if you want a custom design. When it's all wrapped up I top it all off with a good coat of satin polyurethane and it gives it a silky, but naturally rough finish that has a bit of sheen to it. It really looks great. If you would prefer it to be unfinished specify it in your order and I'll be happy to oblige.

SHIPPING: Orders are typically shipped out within 12-14 weeks from purchase and will be shipped via an independent shipping carrier.

IMPORTANT: Once a piece has been started, after client approval, there will be an additional fee for future changes made to the piece if the client wants to change something. The fee varies on complexity of the change and incorporating it into the existing design.
