Item details

Handmade

Materials

copper wire, glass marble, glass orb, glass sphere, glass bottle

I have repurposed a spring green beer bottle into a beautiful hummingbird feeder. The feeder is hand-wrapped in solid copper wire (with an enamel coating to slow oxidation) which, in turn, has a copper wire overwrap of it's own. I have accented this piece with 8 solid glass iridescent marbles in a mix of iridescent emerald green, spring green cat's eye, light green cat's eye and white cat's eye.

Hummingbirds are attracted to the scent of the sugar water so neither the feeder nor the nectar need to be red. For homemade nectar, mix 1 part sugar to 4 parts water. For the first fill up of the year, the mix may be increased to a 1 to 3 ratio for an extra strong sugary smell. Never use artificial sweeteners or honey - pure, plain table sugar is your best bet.

Word of warning - all tube style hummingbird feeders are prone to dripping. To reduce the chances of dribbling nectar, the tube on this feeder is equipped with a ball bearing that slips into place to plug the tiny hole when the hummingbird is through chowing down. Also, it helps to keep the feeder in a shady location because the heat of the sun will cause the air trapped in the feeder to expand, thereby forcing out the nectar.

It is best to clean hummingbird feeders with just hot water. If using soap, be sure to rinse very thoroughly because soap residue can be deadly for the tiny birds.

For you gift giving birders, copper is the traditional gift for the seventh anniversary.

Overall length of the feeder from the top of it's copper hanging hook to the tip of the feeder tube is 20".

This hummingbird feeder is ready to ship and will be mailed Priority Mail within one business day of payment.

All of my items are handmade in a non-smoking, pet friendly home.

Yes, I do combine orders whenever possible. If you want an exact estimate of a combined shipping cost, please give me your zip code and let me know which items. I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
All of the items that I have listed are ready to go so your purchase will ship within one business day (and, quite often, the same day).
Most certainly! Just let me know what color marble(s) and/or
stone(s) tickle your fancy and I'll try my best to meet your needs.
Just let me know in the "Note to seller" section and I'll add a note to your gift (I've become fairly proficient with Print Shop!). Gift wrapping can be a little trickier but if you'd like a little spiffier presentation, I'll give it my best shot.
the term "free shipping" is a misnomer; somebody has to pay for it. As I price my items to allow for a modest profit, I can't afford to absorb the shipping. I also don't want to raise my prices to cover shipping expenses which would give an artificial "free shipping". Plus, when offering free shipping, it negates the price reduction that normally comes with multiple purchases combined into one package. Rest assured that I only charge my customers what the USPS charges me and that I will refund overages. In my experience, this is the fairest and most transparent method for calculating shipping costs.
