Handmade by Diane De Baun And glazed in teal. Features spirals in teal crackle raku.

Stick, Japanese incense holder. Fold stick over to upright position if needed.

7 1/2 inches in diameter.

This raku pottery smudge holder/tray is one of my undulating or wavy rectangle pieces made with the slab technique and then stamped and hand formed, dried, sanded and fired twice: once in an electric kiln and then in the raku kiln where it is fired to 1850 degrees and taken out by opening the hot kiln and using tongs. Then it is put into a trash can with paper, quickly closed for a few minutes then taken out with tongs and dowsed in water. the crackle are from the paper burning and the carbon going into the cracks in the special crackle glaze.
