Description

I am offering nothing less than music History! We love our tunes but back in the day it was hard to transport what you wanted to hear with you, at the beach in the car etc. Lear developed the Lear Jet Stereo 8 music cartridge in 1964, better-known as the "8-track". This was an eight track variation of the four track Muntz Stereo-Pak tape cartridge, marketed by Earl "Madman" Muntz in California in 1962, itself a version of a 3-track system .

The 8-track was a commercial success that provided good audio quality and was easily adapted to vehicle and home use. The Lear Jet Stereo 8, the 8 track player measures 6" thick front to back and about 11" wide. The height is approximately 9- 1/2" bottom to top of handle.

Lear Jet Stereo 8 was a solution to the need for a convenient music source for Lear's new business jets. The consumer version of players for these tapes first appeared in September 1965 in 1966 model Ford automobiles with RCA and Lear offering the first prerecorded Stereo 8 Track Music Cartridges. My wife brought the Lear Jet Stereo 8 home from an Estate Sale and I could not get over how good it looked. She found an old carrying case with a few 8 track tapes inside our garage and felt for sure they would play. Long story short we could not believe how good they sounded.

Back in 1988 I was fighting cancer and my wife and four children would listen to Hall and Oats, Jim Croce's Time in a Bottle and Rock and The House on POOH Corner by Kenny Loggins. They would pick me up from the chemo clinic and we would head for some fast food. The music brought me back to life and how lucky I was to be alive and still enjoy the little things. That music came from our 8 track player in a the 1972 Buick Electra we called "The Bat Mobile.

I kid you not this is the cream of the crop when it comes to 8 track players (I'm not talking about the car 8 track) my long research leads me to believe they are the very first portable ones marketed. It comes with AC power cord, and the knobs are for tone and balance, volume control, and track selection. I know the price seems high, but the only two I found were $700 each. This is a part of Music History. I lowered the price to $575 if I don't GET it so be it. I will listen to it in my home office. I will throw in free shipping as well!

The speakers come apart by pushing on the bottom of the speaker in the back. Hold the the main part that has the handle, push on bottom of other half and it will kind of slide up and off. We still have a few 8 tracks and were listening to them, it was way cool. We even still have a carrying case with some 8 tracks. International customers you must contact us for your shipping rate. We’ve been shipping worldwide since 1999 and we will be able to give you a price for shipping to your destination.

Just let the pictures and our feedback be your guide and I feel sure you won't be disappointed.
I can add a coule 8 Tracks if you don't have any. This truly is a Blast from the Past and it is well worth the price.
