Description

La Fete: Stories of Hot Tea, Sweet Cookies, and Gorgeous Henna from the Heart of Morocco

In Morocco, henna and hospitality go hand in hand. In this new book, Nic Tharpa Cartier and Lisa "Kenzi" Butterworth have put together a collection of new Moroccan-style henna designs for your enjoyment, plus stories, recipes, and folklore of the Moroccan world of spontaneous social gatherings.

This book includes:
-35 pages of henna patterns, from beginner to advanced levels
-Moroccan henna recipe
-Recipes for mint tea, and four different kinds of Moroccan tea snacks
-Stories and folkloric information, told by the authors about their time in Morocco
-Adult coloring book

An excerpt from the text:
"In a traditional house in Rabat, a group of women is gathering to celebrate. On this occasion, the happy news is of the engagement of a daughter, but the cause for celebration could have been anything, even the simple desire to have a good time with friends. Guests have traveled from near and far to visit and catch up, while enjoying a feast of sweets, tea, henna, laughter, singing, and joking. Everyone is involved in the goings-on, and the Moroccans’ fame for hospitality seems well warranted. Jokes and laughter ring through the air, and everyone present is treated to an equal share of teasing and good natured ribaldry."

This book is a digital download. A pdf file of the work will be emailed to you upon purchase. The pdf file is designed to be opened with ADOBE ACROBAT or ACROBAT READER which can be downloaded from the Adobe website. Opening the book with another program may not be successful.

Returns & exchanges

Henna powder must be kept in a cool, dark place in a sealed bag or container; we are not responsible for any defect resulting from improper storage of your henna. We stand behind our products; our henna is air-shipped from Morocco to guarantee maximum freshness and thus, its staining ability. Our artists use the same henna powder that we sell on the site. Because henna is a natural product some variation can be expected from crop to crop but we always test the powder to make sure it is up to our high standards. If you are having a problem with the henna powder, please email us and we will try to help you out. Sometimes you may have to change your recipe or your methods to get your paste perfect, and we will help you in any way we can.
