Description

This Earth and Sky Beaded Cowboy or Cowgirl Hatband was inspired by all the southwest colors and patterns I see around me in Albuquerque, New Mexico. As with all my pieces, I've created it on a bead loom with great care and attention to detail.

The beads used in this piece are my favorite - high quality glass Japanese Delicas, much more even and consistent than the beads most commonly used in loom work. That means a smooth, even piece without the usual lumps, bumps, and inconsistencies. This piece includes opaque cream, gunmetal, red, chocolate brown, and turquoise.

I take extreme care to hide knots and thread ends, so the work appears seamless. I invite you to choose any of the images and zoom right in on the work; it will give you a real sense of the detail beauty of the bead work.

The end loops are durable elk hide, hand sewn with extra strong nylon thread. Included are two extra long leather ties, so you can attach your hatband for a perfect fit, then trim the ties, if need be.

Beadwork Length: Approx. 20 1/2"
Total Length w/ Elk Hide: 21 1/2"
NOTE: With Ties, Hatband can be worn several inches longer.
Width: Approx. 1/2"
Beads Used: Over 4,000!

If you've never felt a fine piece of bead loom work, it's addictive to handle. Think of fabric made of smooth, flexible glass. I've taken great care to prestretch the threads so they will not stretch out and lose their hold.

A piece this size generally takes me 8 hours or more for the bead work, and with even more hours dedicated to the original design work, the hand stitching of the elk hide, and final assembly. I'm really happy to offer such a great deal for this level of attention to detail!

THIS IS MADE TO ORDER. Please allow 1 week before the item is shipped. Thank you.

Additional policies

Custom orders are absolutely welcome! If you see a design in my shop that inspires an idea, let me know. I am able to create computer images of what your design could look like, and I'm happy to work with you until we get something you'll be proud to own. A custom design fee of $12 per hour will be added to the total cost. I can special order beads for you if they are not something I usually carry; in this instance, an extra bead fee may occasionally be added. You pay nothing until we settle on the design! Once the custom order is approved and paid for, I will get your piece on the loom as soon as my order load allows, and I'll give you a time estimate so you know when to expect the finished product.
