Beautiful Hebridean Yarn from our small flock of sheep on our croft on the world-famous Isle of Skye. Our sheep are hand-shorn in the summer, with the whole family getting involved in the process. Our fleeces are then machine spun. In winter, the sheep are fed on home-grown hay and draff (a whisky by-product) from our local distillery.

Yarn is available in balls of 50g or 100g, or in 100g skeins and are packaged with our unique label. The yarn is double knit, but looks and feels more like worsted weight yarn. 100g measures 185yds.

The colour of the yarn is very rich dark brown, almost black. We tend to use wool from the youngest sheep for spinning, so it is very soft. The colour is 100% natural.

Hebridean sheep are an ancient breed that origniate in this part of Scotland, and are perfectly adapted to this climate. They are small in comparison to other breeds of sheep, but very hardy and thrive well on the native coastal grassland that they feed on.
