This long skinny boa type scarf is hand crocheted out of hand painted wool and silk yarn. The yarn is 58% wool and 42% silk - very soft and silky with beautiful drape and luster. Then the tailspun yarn was painstakingly crocheted along one edge to create the gorgeous fringe of the scarf. The tailspun yarn is fiber art at its finest (see the Story Behind The Product for additional information) and is the highlight of this stunning piece of fiber art.

The colors in this scarf remind me of a spicy dish of curried foods.

Sure to garner lots of positive comments and compliments when worn!

7 feet long (not including the fringe)
2-1/2 inches wide (not including the fringe)
fringe is from 5 to 7 inches in length with the average being 6 inches long.

I have also added some organza ribbons woven through the base scarf in coordinating colors. The scarf can be ruched into a short "collar" or neck warmer by pushing the scarf all together.

Extremely versatile, you can wear this piece so many different ways. Simply drape it around your neck or wrap it around a couple of times to create a full cowl with trailing ends. Or use it as a belt. Your imagination can provide many ways to wear this fine piece of fiber art.

Inspiration/Story Behind This Product

This is the fourth long skinny boa type scarf in my series. The first one was named "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" and was in bright rainbow colors. The second one was named "Autumn Splendor" and was a cornucopia of Autumn colors. The third one was named "Summer Meadow". I was inspired to make these scarves when I caught sight of the extreme tailspun yarns. These yarns are made from long staple length Wensleydale or Teeswater wool locks that are handspun by spinning just the blunt cut edge and leaving the remainder of the lock to flow freely. This is a very time consuming process, making the yarns expensive but worth every penny. I decided that the yarns are so gorgeous I wanted to showcase them so I selected a coordinating wool and silk hand painted yarn from my stash and crocheted it into a long skinny "canvas" to crochet the tailspun yarn onto.
