I challenged myself with painting the story of Jesus clearing the temple courts, which you can read below. I thought for a long time about how to go about this one, because it shows such a different aspect of Jesus' character. I looked at other artists' paintings of it, to see how they approached it. I decided in the end to go abstract, and use colour and rough palette knife strokes to express Jesus' anger at what the sellers had turned this place of worship into. This painting is small, but it would be really neat to paint it again as a larger, more developed work, and is available as a custom painting.
And they came to Jerusalem. And he entered the temple and began to drive out those who sold and those who bought in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons. And he would not allow anyone to carry anything through the temple. And he was teaching them and saying to them, "Is it not written, 'My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations'? But you have made it a den of robbers." And the chief priests and the scribes heard it and were seeking a way to destroy him, for they feared him, because all the crowd was astonished at his teaching. And when evening came they went out of the city. (Mark 11:15-19 NIV)

I love this piece. God's Holy Spirit parting the waters and Jesus leading us (the lamb) through. He never leaves nor forsakes us. This piece hangs in our dining room with a visual of our family picture in our foyer as a reminder to our family that God is with us and for us. Again, Melani's skill and heart behind each piece causes the believer and unbeliever alike to be reminded of the very presence of God and His desire to be present with us in all things. Her pieces are more than art, they inspire hope, strength, and love from a mighty God and Father and His precious Son, our Savior.
Melani has a gift of bringing a reflection of God's love for us, His tender care, and His power to light through her art. Her art invokes hope, faith, acceptance, and joy. She does it in a way that reflects His softness, but also His strength. We have bought several pieces from her because we want God's presence to be felt in our home and her art brings that to a visual reality and necessary reminder for the believer and all who enter our home.
Love it! Picture is beautiful
