Description

This placemat was created firstly as a way to use up some of my cotton yarn (plentiful in multiple colors in my stash), and secondly as a way that I could easily make more later on if needed without worrying about matching dye lots or particular yarn types. Pictured you can see the full set of placemats, Each one is a different color, but the contrasting border stripe is the same. This way, I really only have to keep track of one particular yarn for future placemats (the contrasting border stripe yarn), and I only use a scrap amount in each one! If you prefer things a bit more matchy, matchy, please feel free to make them all the same! And if you've never done the waffle stitch before - it creates some awesome texture! This simple project would be a great place to try it out!

While this is a simple piece with no shaping, it is probably an intermediate pattern since it uses front post double crochet stitches.

This pattern is written for worsted cotton. I've personally used peaches & cream, sugar & cream, bernat handicrafter cotton, and lion cotton all with success.

This pattern is written in US terms.

It is OK to sell finished items made from this pattern, although credit for the design is much appreciated :-)

Please note that this listing is for the PATTERN ONLY and not the finished placemat.

Thanks so much for looking!

Have a great day!
