Description

Price is for 4 numbers. For more than 4 numbers or characters, like an arrow, convo me!
A one of a kind, hand-painted address, date sign, hand-painted on antique roofing slate tiles from an old house. Perfect for the date your house or home was built or established, extra special if you are lucky enough to have an actual old house! Oh the romance of vintage! Or, you can have your house number address painted. This listing price is for 4 numbers. Convo for price for more. The textured & weathered tile with the charcoal and shades of gray hues would pair well for a barn or country setting as well as for a more traditional brick house. (Sample shown with brick in photo 3. Makes a great house-warming gift!

It's easy to find signs today printed on slate, often by a printer or stencil. The signs I create are all done by hand, one by one on old slate tiles. My signs are for someone who appreciates vintage & history, someone wanting something more rare with instant history.
You will get 1 painted tile with the 4 numbers of your choice. The tiles vary in location of texture but most shading is similar in hues as shown in the photos. If you happen to want the 1839 date, you will get the one in this listing for $30! Convo and I will change price. The lettering is done in an off white creamy shade. Convo if you need more than one. I also have a listing for custom signs, though the number of these great old tiles I have is limited. I can do these letters in a variety of colors. Questions welcome!
Wonderfully varied texture with some smoother areas where tile was covered on the roof by another tile. A range of shades from charcoal to hints of black, and many shades of gray, cream, taupe, and some tiles have a tint of taupe/brown.
These are slightly angled and measure approximately 16" long by 4 1/2" wide at narrow end flaring out to 5 5/16" at larger end. It is about 1/4" thick at largest end down to about 3/8" thick at smaller end. I have gently cleaned this tile to remove some of surface dirt but careful not to dink with awesome patina!
There is some chippiness to the edges but no cracks. The sign is sealed with an archival matte sealer to protect against moisture and fading, though I wouldn't recommend keeping these outdoors if they are exposed to rain and snow.
Works well laying flat on a table or you can prop it up or lean it. There are also natural holes where the roofing nails were so you could nail it to something though I would consult a roofer for kinds of nails and how to do so you don't break the slate. Possible you could use these holes or create more holes for hanging. Listing is for 1 date or address sign only.
Last photo shows some other samples of signs I have created using these old tiles plus it gives a back view. Often the entire back is smoother. If you prefer that look, let me know!
***These are priced Priority from TN to the west coast, which includes tracking and insurance. This price is for MAINLAND U.S. so convo if you want Hawaii or Alaska. If you are closer, it could be less. For example, from TN to DC is a little over half this price. These are very fragile items and require a lot of time & supplies to pack in order to assure a safe arrival. Priority is the best way to ship for these fragile signs and standard is only a little less.
You can send zip if you want shipping to be changed before you check out. Otherwise, if you don't want to play convo tag, just go ahead and purchase, knowing I will refund if possible. I do this all the time!

I do my best to combine shipping for multiple purchases but since I have such a variety of items it is hard to put that in listing. Convo for rate for multiple purchases prior to purchase or go ahead and check out if you don't want to play email tag (: and I will do my best to refund thru Paypal.

Come visit SeaSeaRider for much SEA-inspired vintage items & original art plus books, bird & botanical prints, jewelry, vintage Valentines & Christmas, letterpress art and wooden letters, my original SEA Shingle, real OLD shells & coral, ephemera, and some vintage industrial finds.
