1800's Impressive Meriden Britannia Company Double Walled Pitcher. Fine electro silver plate ware made in Hamilton, Canada branch.
In the Illustrated Christian Weekly back in the mid 1800's an Advertisement for the Meriden Brittania Company stated:
"For nearly one-third of a century these wares have been before the public. Their durability has been proven by many years of constant service, while the various designs of both form and ornamentation are of the highest artistic excellence."
This is truly an amazing piece of artwork. The engraving plate was never used and remains available for your family name.
Talk about durable, the exterior is in excellent condition with no dings or dents. The interior's white enamel is in very good condition except slightly off color toward the upper part, and a very thin line of rust near the very top of the interior rim and around the ice filter in the inside of the spout.
This gorgeous pitcher will be admired by all. It can be engraved with your family name.
It measures 13" tall, 10" from spout to handle, and 6.5" across it's base. It weighs 5.5lbs.
