Description

Time to impress those dinner guests with your new disease...

This slide is Aspergilla from Sputum. Aspergillosis is a disease caused by Aspergillus, a common mold (a type of fungus) that lives indoors and outdoors. Sputum is a mixture of saliva and mucus coughed up from the respiratory tract, typically as a result of infection or other disease and often examined microscopically to aid medical diagnosis.

Awesome? Gross? Whatever you decide, it's certainly a unique conversation piece!

When purchasing, you can choose to include typography that denotes the actual name of the culture in the print.

The 8x10 prints are on Premium high resolution semi-glossy paper. During check-out you will be given the option to purchase print with 11x14 beveled black matte, or matte and 11x14 Blick Art Wooden frame.

Here's a little more about the history and science behind the art...

Every 8x10 high-quality Science Print originates directly from a unique and very real bacterium captured on a glass slide from the 1970s.

My grandfather was a Microbiologist in New York in the 1970s. He had a set of glass slides he used to identify and verify disease cultures that came in to him at the lab. I was able to save the original slides from being destroyed and scanned and digitized them to create brilliant abstract renderings of the vintage organic designs.
