Description

A stuffed-animal knitting pattern for an intermediate knitter. I can think of no sweeter gift for a special child or child-at-heart than a soft toy you knit yourself. Knit this sweet little walrus for someone special.

This pattern is 8 pages long, written in English, and illustrated with over a dozen photographs -both in-progress and of the finished walrus, so it’s easy to follow.

MATERIALS NEEDED:
Five 3.25mm (US size 3) double pointed knitting needles*
60m (65 yds) sport weight light brown yarn*
60m (65 yds) sport weight dark brown yarn*
5m (5 yds) sport weight fuzzy brown yarn*
5m (5 yds) sport weight white yarn*
scrap yarn in black
Stuffing
Darning needle
* Because exact size is not critical to a knit toy, you can knit your whale up in the needles and yarn you already have at hand, as long as they knit up tightly so that the toy holds its shape. (The sample was knit using Wolle Rödel Allround for the light brown, dark brown and white, and Lang Yarns for the fuzzy brown)

SKILLS USED:
Piet the Walrus is knit in-the-round, with a couple sections knit flat.
The pattern includes: Casting on, binding off, knitting, purling, increasing and decreasing stitches, icord, provisional cast-on**, short rows**, and basic finishing techniques are all used in this pattern.

**Don’t be intimidated if you’ve never tried knitting a provisional cast-on or short rows. The pattern includes links to detailed tutorials for these techniques. Furthermore, I am also available to my customers via etsy convo and/or email (yarnbirdy [at] gmail [dot] com) to clear up any confusion or questions you have regarding the pattern. I will do my best to answer your question within 48 hours.

DELIVERY:
This pattern is available as an instant PDF download after payment.
