Description

From Amazon: "What a fun peek into the past - when travel wasn't as easy & safe as it is today! The book also provides insight into just how hard lives were for Pacific native cultures in the 1800's."

1836 by Russel, Shattuck & Co. A narrative of the shipwreck, captivity and sufferings of Horace Holden and Benj. H. Nute : who were cast away in the American ship Mentor, on the Pelew Islands, in the year 1832; and for two years afterwards were subjected to unheard of sufferings among the barbarous inhabitants of Lord North's Island.

A first edition in very good condition. Original cover in brown embossed cloth with gilt title lettering. Features fine wood-engraved plates including the front pages. Pages are aged and spotted in some places, but overall a very collectable and perfectly readable item.

Additional policies
