Light a royal spark with this golden matchbox full of 4" long candle matches!

Featuring a retouched vintage book cover of "The Queen of Hearts: One of R. Caldecott's Picture Books" (Randolph Caldecott, 1849) on the outer lid, this lovely matchbox adds the perfect noble touch.

This special, over-sized matchbox makes a great gift for birthdays, game nights, camping trips, host/hostess gifts, mother's/father's day, Valentine's Day, the holidays, and more. Pairs perfectly with a candle. Get one for yourself too and place it next to your bath tub, favorite reading spot, or on your mantle for candle-lit relaxation... This matchbox is a larger size (4 1/2" x 2 5/8" x 3/4"), and contains about 60 white-tipped safety matches that are 4" long. A generous striker strip is located on the right hand side. Most orders ship within 3 business days. If it is a custom or bulk order, I aim to ship it within 5 business days. If you need the item by a certain date please mention it when you order. Please note that international orders can be in the mail for up to 21 business days (sometimes longer).

FAQs

All orders ship as soon as possible. Most orders ship within 1-3 days; personalized orders typically take 2-7 days. You will receive tracking once your order is on its way. Most orders ship with USPS; larger orders may ship with FedEx. All orders containing matches ship by ground.

International orders are shipped USPS first class international and should arrive in 10-21 business days (sometimes less, sometimes more). International orders are shipped without matches in the boxes (you will have to provide your own).

So where did the shop name come from? A portmanteau is an old French word for a box or suitcase that opens into two equal parts (much like my matchboxes). The shop logo is derived from an imagined antique lock on an old leather suitcase, something like one would carry on a long train journey. And just how do you pronounce portmanteau? It rhymes with studio (port-man-toe). :)
