A free form structure that took approx 1 month to complete. It measures 7'X7'X7' A free form wire structure is made first, every joint is connected hand wire wrapping one piece of wire to another. Once the wire structure/form is complete it is wrapped with a cotton muslin material. One point is sewn onto the wire structure and from there the muslin is pulled and stretched and hand sewn to the wire. When I begin these sculptures I sort of have an image, in my creative mind, as to what I want the final piece to look like, but.... as I pull and sew the muslin onto the wire new possibilities emerge as the piece becomes filled out and 3D from the muslin. When the muslin is final sewed onto the wire form various shades of acrylic paint is applied to it. I then add finishing touches of wrapping thin gauge wire here & there and the branches and other natural materials. I collected a lot of the wire from old barns and from asking farmers if they have any old wire laying around( they usually do).
The final sculpture is meant to provoke the viewers mind and I let them decide for themselves what it (the sculpture) is or how they define it. This sculpture can be hung/displayed in a variety of ways.
