Description

Oblong soft cover, published 1936.
This beautiful little recipe booklet was designed so that each page could be detached as an index card to be filed in a recipe box. None of the pages in this copy were detached; in fact it does not appear that anyone ever used the book to actually cook from. The front and back covers are drawings of rare plates and the colored drawings of food illustrating many of the recipes are art-deco and exquisite.
This booklet was compiled by Mary Dahnke of Kraft Foods. She was one of the first home economists to be employed in the food industry. Mary began working at Kraft - then called the Kraft-Phenix Cheese Corporation - in Chicago in 1925 for the newly formed Home Economics Department. Her first job was to hand out Kraft cheeses at grocery stores. She expanded her job by traveling around the country to schools, association meetings and cooking classes to demonstrate the many uses of cheese, eventually becoming the Director of the Home Economics Department. As Kraft expanded their products beyond cheese, Mary created recipes using the new products and was a key person in developing and marketing the Kraft lines. She retired in 1962

CONDITION
Very good with the following noted:
Front cover has an almost unnoticeable smudge where something was written and erased, back cover shows a bit of wear on the bottom left, spine also shows wear but is intact, pages have a slight wave.
