Handmade

Materials

organic cotton, careful construction

I made these cloths after struggling with cheesecloth. These have a triple layer of loose weave organic cotton. The edges are finished so that they can be washed without fraying and falling apart. The edging is black so that they (fingers crossed) will stand out from your other kitchen cloths and not get misused.
Although the weave is loose enough to let your oils through nicely, it traps all the little 'bits' than manage to get through cheesecloth. The photo above shows the cloth straining an oil infused with chamomile and calendula. One straining removed all the dried flowers... there were no tiny particulates left in the strained oil.

These also work beautifully for straining nut milks and making farmers cheese. I'm told they are the perfect thing to cover kombucha scoby jars with as well and last night my husband lined our bamboo steamer backet with one to make rice... it worked perfectly. Basically any time instructions call for cheesecloth, these make an excellent, reusable, machine washable alternative.

This listing is for three 14" square cloths. The natural color fabric has been backordered for a few months. The white (not pictured) is the only option currently available. The natural color is removed using a natural process... no icky chemicals. I trim both the natural and white fabrics in black thread.

"Michelle's handmade, reusable straining cloths are a must-have for any herbalist. I had been wanting to find an alternative to wasteful, single use cheesecloth so I was thrilled to hear about these beauties. They are soft, organic, durable, and clearly made with love. Most importantly, they do a great job filtering out materials, leaving you with high quality, particle free medicine. I'm so thankful to have these in my collection!”
