Description

The green atlas beetle, Chalcosoma atlas keyboh, is an eye-catching scarab beetle that's easy for beginners to work with!

Learn how to spread beetle specimens all by yourself! Each kit contains a green atlas beetle specimen and everything you need to spread it at home. This makes an amazing gift for people of all ages!

Atlas beetles hail from southeast Asia (mostly Malaysia), where they live in the wild and spend their lives fighting each other with their giant horns, mating, and eating a lot of fruit and nectar until they die of natural causes. They are then collected by locals and packaged for sale to entomology enthusiasts alike. This not only protects the fragile ecosystem by encouraging people to leave the insects to live out their days, but it also boosts the local economy!

Each kit includes the following:
-One naturally deceased green atlas beetle, unspread, packaged in cellophane
-A hydration chamber and sponge
-Illustrated instructions on how to prepare and preserve the specimen, plus aftercare
-Instructions for adding the specimen to a shadow box (shadow box costs extra, please use the "request custom order" button on this listing if you wish to purchase a shadow box for an additional $20 - WAIT UNTIL I RESPOND to check out, because I can't bill you extra for the box if you just buy the kit by itself)
-A spreading board
-A set of black entomology pins
-A set of thick stock strips for securing the wings as they dry
-A cardboard box for storage

This listing is for ONE atlas beetle spreading kit. Your kit will be packed to order and will ship by the estimated date listed when you place your order.

You WILL NOT receive the exact items pictured. Beetles may vary slightly in size because nature likes to create individuals. Parts of the kits may vary slightly in size because I cut the boards by hand and assemble everything myself. Please contact me prior to leaving a review if there are any issues with your specimen so that I can fix it!

United States shipping ONLY due to high exportation costs of regulated specimens. Sorry, international folks!

If you need rush shipping or you need your order by a specific date, please ask BEFORE you pay for your order. Special requests lodged after your order is placed may not be accommodated.
