Welcome to my idea of bringing songbirds and the peaceful outdoors to your home! I love to adopt antique furniture and give it new life. My goal is to rescue antique pieces with solid bones, thus reusing and recycling, and to give them a facelift with non-toxic no-VOC paints and natural finishes (no or low volatile organic compound paint). I transform pieces into eco-friendly and educational pieces for you or your children!

NOTE ALSO THAT ALL PIECES ARE ON THE MORE COMPACT SIZE FOR EASE OF SHIPPING. Dressers such as this one will measure approximately 30-35 inches tall and about 15-18 inches deep.

The dresser in this listing is SOLD and was a custom order. It is an example of what I can purchase and paint for your bedroom or child's room. After refinishing this particular dresser, I used brown and white non-toxic low VOC paint to provide a mosaic background. Then, I painted tree limbs as perches for colorful birds; this dresser features a cardinal, a yellow warbler, mountain bluebird, and a woodpecker. I used a coat of natural wax as the finish. Each bird is identified with a common and Latin name on a tree branch or on the inside lip of its respective drawer, making my pieces educational pieces as well as an aesthetic pieces for your room or your child's room. Very eco-friendly!

STEPS TO TAKE

If you are interested in purchasing one of my custom pieces, follow these steps:

1. EMAIL: Please e-mail me before you purchase to discuss your ideas regarding a custom piece.

2. CHOOSE COLOR & FOUR BIRDS: In your e-mail, please provide two background colors and choice of birds (four for the price of this listing; additional birds are $50 each). NOTE: If you have examples of dressers pictured online or if you have actual pictures, please send these to me as attachments or links in an e-mail. This is VERY helpful so that we are on the same page!

3. PURCHASE: Once we have agreed on a custom piece, I create a special listing for you, which you then purchase.

4. CREATE: Based on your listing, I will find and buy a dresser in the Denver area. I will take 6 to 8 weeks to complete the piece. The length of time is based on how long it takes me to find a dresser in the style you desire and on the time of year in terms of how many orders I am completing. I am a stay-at-home mother and the sole painter and artist, so it takes me a little longer to complete my custom projects.

5. SHIP: SHIPPING INCLUDED IN PURCHASE PRICE! Once the paintings are finished and the coat of protective wax has dried, I package the dresser and send it to your home, usually with FedEx 3- 7-day Ground. FedEx requires packages to be lighter than 70 pounds to a residential address and under 100 for a business address. I may send the frame in one box and the drawers in another if the weight doesn't permit the use of one large package. As a last choice, I will use Greyhound Package Express, which will deliver to your home but may take longer to deliver, 10 to 20 days.

***Please understand that the dressers I paint are all antique solid wood dressers, nice mahogany, walnut, or oak, so none will be perfect and all will have slight irregularities due to their old nature--each dresser has character, which makes each one such a nice alternative to mass-produced items that all look the same. Drawers will require both knobs to be pulled at the same time to open nicely because antique drawers do not have the metal sliders and instead are all solid wood, which can shift with age--I do apply a special wax to the frame to create a better sliding surface. I sand, putty, nail, secure, and refinish all pieces before I paint to make each dresser as perfect as I can! I also distress the paint and edges of a piece at times to add character at the end of a project.
