Description

This is an original 8" x 10" photo encaustic mixed media painting on a 3/4” deep profile wood panel with cradled sides that are finished in black acrylic so no framing is necessary.

This piece was made with layers of wax fused with heated tools. The image used in this painting was photographed by me in a visit to the ancient city, printed on paper and included in the painting as a central piece. The work includes photo transfer, an old postcard print, and detailed work on texturing and stencils on encaustic paint as well as pastels and heavy fusing.

Evocative of the Mediterranean, its textures and colours, travel and ancient times.

I have signed and dated the piece on the back. Enjoy the texture and dream-like beauty of encaustic painting in this original and unique art piece!

A care sheet on how to care for your encaustic art will be included with your painting.

All encaustics art pieces in this shop:

*Are made by me
*Are coated with multiple layers of encaustic medium
* Are mixed media art (i.e. more than one technique is applied including pastels, photo transfers and collage elements)
*Are one of a kind pieces

ABOUT ENCAUSTIC
Encaustic painting is an ancient media using natural beeswax, Damar resin to stabilize the wax and pigments. When heated, the liquid is applied and fused to a hard surface (wood panel). The wax gives it a lustrous enamel appearance, it can be polished to high gloss, molded, sculpted, textured and combined with collage materials. Metal tools, brushes and stencils can be used to make special marks and shapes.

Encaustic is one of the most durable of artist’s mediums and makes an excellent investment. Beeswax is impervious to moisture, therefore it will not deteriorate, it will not yellow and it will not darken overtime. Encaustic paintings do not have to be varnished or protected by glass. If the painting looks dull or gets dusty it can be wiped clean with a soft cloth dampened with a little water and a soft clean cloth can be used to lightly buff the surface if necessary.

I received my item in careful packaging. It is absolutely stunning and fits the theme of my altar perfectly. It's such a great find and it truly is a gem. The artistic talent of the seller is amazing and I'm so thankful to have found her and this item. She is extremely accommodating and easy to work with, too, and communication is top notch.

I wouldn't hesitate at all to purchase from this shop again and I look forward to purchasing more items in the future! One of my favorite Etsy purchases by far.

FEEDBACK
If you are happy with your purchase, I would appreciate if you find a moment to leave a feedback! Customer service and customer satisfaction are very important for me and I just want to be sure that each of my items has reached their destination safely and to the customer satisfaction.

Please contact me before leaving negative or neutral feedback, I will do my best to solve the problem.

CUSTOM ORDERS
Custom orders are welcome! If you want something specific, please contact me. I will be happy to work with you!

NOTE
Colours may appear slightly different in photos and on different screens.
All items are made in a smoke-free.

The most common concern regarding wax art is whether it will melt. T he melting point of wax is between 160-180 degrees Fahrenheit, so it would take your house to be on fire for the paintings to melt. However as with any fine art, please do not hang the painting anywhere that receives direct sunlight and please keep your paintings away from extreme heat and cold.

Avoid contact with sharp objects including fingernails as the surface of the painting is susceptible to scratching.

When transporting your encaustic painting, the piece must be safely wrapped. Wrap the work well in wax paper and bubble paper and box it. Do not leave it in your car for extended periods as heat buildup on a hot day could damage the painting. Avoid extreme cold as the wax may crack or separate from the braced panel.
