Hello and welcome to Lazy Sunday, a collection of five beaded sock designs. Whether you are a new to this technique or already an expert, I have some treats for you.

Socks have been my creative passion since 2009: they are the perfect size canvas for experimenting with pattern and texture, both for me as a designer and you as a knitter. In this collection of beaded knits, I have created patterns that really show off how beads accentuate lace, cables, eyelets and twisted stitches, as well as including instructions for my favourite method of beading – which also happens to be the simplest.

Nervous about beading? Check out my 'Learn to Bead in 26 seconds' video. http://janeburns.co.uk/2016/04/learn-to-bead-in-just-26-seconds/

For me, adding beads to a design is an elegant way to give the knitting an extra embellishment that complements the shapes of the stitches and the tones of the yarn. You can choose to forgo the beads in these designs, but they are the cherry on a very delicious slice of cake.
I chose to use Eden Cottage yarns simply because of their beautiful colours. These muted shades come from a soothing, Sunday-perfect palette and the gorgeous yarn blends, with silk and cashmere, are a treat for the fingers – and soon for your toes.

Music is my constant companion, sometimes as a joyful escape into the thrills of live gigs, but more often as the soundtrack to my creativity and relaxation. While I was designing these socks, I imagined the perfect lazy Sunday: taking a bit of time to unwind, listen to your favourite music, and do just as you please: exactly the kind of afternoon the Small Faces captured in their lyrics.

The collection contains five patterns of varying difficulty ranging from a very simple top down, heel flap and gusset construction, with minimal beading to ease you into the beading with a crochet hook. The patterns become a little more complex with the addition of twisted stitches, eyelets and cables.

Looking for some more information on the individual patterns check out my Ravelry page here at http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/sources/lazy-sunday-socks

The book also includes step by step instructions teaching you how to apply beads to your knitting using a small crochet hook. No pre-stringing hundreds of beads, yay!

“These were a quick fun knit and adding the beads makes them have just the right amount of sparkle!” – CrunchyMamaKnits – Instagram

“I completed these as a test knit, my socks are normally self patterning with only basic stitch patterns so I wondered if it would be outside my comfort zone. The pattern was well written and knitters up relatively quickly, once going was able to memorise the stitch pattern. There are a lot of ktb’s in the pattern but these make the design really stand out”. Anne1962 – Ravelry

So pour yourself a cuppa, put a record on and I hope you will enjoy knitting yourself some simply indulgent socks.

This book is fabulous . I am still a kind of new sock knitter , but I am interested in a lot of patterned socks once I get a bit more practice . When I saw the " no room for ravers " sock on Instagram , I knew that would be one for me to knit . Thanks ! Just wish the exchange wasn't so bad ! It can be costly to order .
