Description

IMPORTANT NOTE: The flower is built around 6” of 50 lb test clear/blue fluorescent Dupont Stren monofilament. A two yard piece (which would make 12 lilac necklaces, if you wish) is available here in my Etsy shop. There is no substitute I know of for this material, and it will be very hard to find elsewhere, as the manufacturer no longer makes it Etsy does not allow me to list the eTutorial and the material together. That listing is here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/287162735/stren-50-test-fishing-line-1-yd-enough

White Lilac is an elegantly draped floral beaded necklace, almost soft and crushable enough to be mistaken for the real thing. It was inspired by the beautiful spring blooming shrubs that fill the air with their unique perfume.

This 48 page advanced level tutorial includes instructions, diagrams, and photos to help you make your own special necklace. You must be comfortable with Peyote stitch, and knowledge of Herringbone stitch and Triangle Weave (much like Right Angle Weave) are helpful, but both are taught. The willingness to use a variety of threads and needles will be necessary, and good thread control and patience will also be helpful. It will take about 25 - 30 hours to make this necklace.

You will learn to create the individual flowers, and how to assemble the blossom. You will make two sizes of three dimensional heart-shaped leaves. You will weave a supple fringed yoke, and assemble these components in a way that will allow the work to fit any neck size. You can also choose to pull the work snugly around the neck into a choker, or wear it in a flattering V.

The rest of the materials used in this lilac necklace are listed in the tutorial, and advice is given on choosing beads for infinite possible colorways. Beads in sizes 15/0 to 6/0 are used.

What a fabulous tutorial. So clearly explained, it feels like having Marsha with me as I bead. The kit is really lovely, with the most delightful choice of beads. Sometimes bead quality and colours in kits can disappoint, but not in this kit. A real winner, I love it.
