The best way to hang a swing in a live tree is using a threaded eye bolt drilled through the branch. This may seem like it would do more harm to your tree than just looping it around the branch and tieing it. This is false. Just below the bark is the trees thin living layer called it's Cambium layer. This can be damaged over time by simply wrapping the rope around the branch.

Think of a small hole as a piercing, it heals quickly and does very little damage to the surrounding tissue. Wrapping around the branch acts like a tourniquet, cutting off the circulation to the branch ultimately killing the branch itself.

We've put this kit together to include everything you will need to hang one of our swings… or even someone else's swings. Granted, you may be able to find your standard zinc plated or galvanized hanging hardware at your local hardware store, but Vintage Swings has hunted high and low to bring you the absolute best: stainless steel.

As most know, stainless steel doesn't rust. Your hardware will last —and look beautiful— for many years to come.

Stainless steel is safe for you:
Stainless steel offers a higher load rating than standard galvanized steel of the same size. Our eyes have a working load limit of 2000 pounds… each. And the quick links are even more. :)

Stainless steel is safest for your tree:
But perhaps most important of all... stainless steel, when mounted through a living tree branch, will be the best for the tree. Stainless steel will not corrode and cause infections inside the tree. So if you love your tree, as we do, please consider stainless steel the only option.
