Although it is listed as 142 DMC colors, quite a few of them do not need a lot of floss. You probably have enough in remnants from other projects to use in this one. The symbol guide in the booklet has the number of stitches need. Here’s the breakdown:

• 3 colors have less than or exactly 20 stitches
• 14 colors have between 21 and 50 stitches
• 19 colors have between 51 and 100 stitches
• 40 colors have between 101 and 200 stitches
• 41 colors have between 201 and 500 stitches
• 16 colors have between 501 and 1000 stitches
• 8 colors have between 1001 and 2000 stitches
• 9 colors have over 2001 stitches

You can choose from regular format color chart booklet (ends in RC) or regular format black and white chart booklet (ends in RBW).

Large format charts are available on request. Just drop me a message!

Download pattern includes chart, floss listing and thread sorter pages. Also included is an estimated length PDF for the 3 listed sizes. I've also included the story below so that you can keep it with your pattern.

The Inspiration:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Strolling thru the forest, the vixen stops.

Her four little ones take the opportunity to explore the surroundings and to get some playtime in.

But she is alert to the trembling of the ground, the vibrations in the air. She’s stopped them to find the source and protect her kits.

And there she spots them, the young bucks racing thru the forest toward them.

They must have seen her and her kits for they veer to the side and leap the fallen tree between them.

As if chasing them, the cardinal couple flies, dips and teases and joins in with the running of the deer.

Just another beautiful day in the forest.

Let this incredible scene of Running of the Deer counted cross stitch pattern delight you not just in the stitching of it, but also in the story behind it!

Dorothy, I was getting ready for bed and decided to check my emails.....and there you were with the finished product. You made me cry.........I am 73 yrs old and have been cross stitching for over 40 years and never, I mean never have I ever seen a pattern so clearly printed, clearly stated, soooooo professionally done, so beautifully explained as what you just provided............I have no words..............thank you is not good enough. What you went through to produce this for me, I don't have the words to express my gratitude. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. The finished product is going to a well deserved police officer at Christmas time. As I wipe the tears, I smile because I met someone like you. You are awesome! Thank you for being YOU! I love this design for a pillow. I also wanted rustic but soft. The seller has been the best to communicate with. I asked her so many questions, but yet she was always happy, gracious and helpful! Started this. Not an easy pattern, but the detail will be so worth it.
