Organic Rock Art Dish - Sunburst Petroglyph - Ceramic Dish - Pottery Dish - Terra Cotta Dish
Description
The inspiration for this piece came from the rock art petroglyphs of the American Southwest. I wanted to create a modern dish in a very organic, rustic style that would help represent the original rock art. I used terra cotta clay and hand formed the bowl. I textured the interior and added the Sunburst design before covering it with a food safe matte glaze.
The bowl is about 6.5 inches in diameter and about 1.5 inches tall. It could be used as a candy dish or jewelry dish, change bowl, key holder or simply as a decorative piece.
Each dish is hand formed by me. No two will be exactly alike even when a similar design is used. The size and shape could vary slightly for this reason, too and the color of the fired clay and glaze could vary from batch to batch. I try to take pictures that accurately represent what the piece looks like but please keep these potential variations in mind.
