When I started working with leather 12 years ago, one of the very first things I did was to add custom, hand-branded, inscriptions to my pieces. I was the only one doing it at the time and the method I use, writing every inscription entirely by hand, gives my work a rustic, handmade, soulful, and very special look. The inscription on this journal can be anything you can imagine - song lyrics, wedding vows, a letter, or scripture. What will yours say?

This piece is called the "Smokey" Journal and the inscription is all done in a handwritten, cursive, style (it is actually my handwriting). The inscription can be anything you choose, up to 800 characters.

To make this piece I start with a vegetable tanned tooling leather leather then cut, brand and dye it by hand before applying a protective coat to keep it safe from the elements. The antique tan color may vary slightly - we hand dye each piece, and leather is a natural material so some may be darker or lighter than the image shown.

JOURNAL DETAILS: This journal measures approximately 8 x 5.5" and has unlined pages inside - it's great for sketching or writing without feeling confined or distracted by those pesky lines! It is refillable with a standard black hardbound sketchbook. It's just about 3/4" thick and has a snap closure.

TO CUSTOMIZE THIS PIECE: Just add it to your cart and put the inscription as you would like it to appear on the strap in the "NOTES TO SELLER" section when you check out. No need for a custom listing! You can include up to 800 characters including spaces and punctuation.

COLOR: This journal is antique tan, which has shades of orange and brown in it. It is rustic and warm. Because leather is a natural material some variation is to be expected.
