♥ This piece is about family histories. Little snippets of lives. Memories, photographs, mementos. Who's left to tell the stories when it's all said and done? ♥

Each "chapter" is created on a small canvas using a variety of materials including spackling paste, encaustic beeswax, paint, ink, foil, photographs, negatives, watch parts, paper, wire, nails and many other found objects. These canvases were then attached to the wood panel which is painted with layers of encaustic beeswax and engraved with a poem about families and the passage of time.

Approximate dimensions: 11" wide x 16" tall x ½" deep.

Signed on the back and ready to hang.

~ Small scratches, fibers and other such "imperfections" are intentional as they add to the character of this piece. ~

*Caring for Your Mixed Media Encaustic
For several months after the completion of this piece the wax\/resin will go through a curing process in which the surface continues to harden. During this time moisture and impurities may work their way to the surface and cause a slight haze. If you wish, you can restore the shine by buffing with a soft cotton cloth in one direction. Do not use cleaners or solvents. As time goes by and the wax\/resin has had a chance to cure and harden it will keep its polished look.

Encaustic wax is stable between temperatures of approximately 40-110°F. The wax melts and runs at 162°F. Do not hang this piece in direct sunlight as this may fade the colors. Very hot days can soften wax somewhat but will cause no real damage. Avoid freezing and extremely hot temperatures.
