Description

Many years ago, I purchased a group of Japanese wood block prints from an Atlanta estate. They were so lovely and different from anything I'd ever seen or owned before, that I kept them stored safely for the past 25-30 years. So, now, offered exclusively to my customers and for the first time ever online, I have several lovely prints for your consideration.

Please bear with me, as Japanese wood blocks are not my speciality. I am offering them exactly as I found them and urge you to view the photos carefully, use the zoom feature, and ask questions prior to buying. Due to the nature of these prints, this is a final sale. If you are interested in more than one, I am happy to combine them to save on shipping. These will be packed in a tube and rolled up carefully when shipped.

This wood block is entitled: After a Bath by KOBAYAKAWA KIYOSHI (or is it KIYOSHI KOBAYAKAWA?) 湯上がり Ukiyo-e by Kobayakawa Kiyoshi (some list his birth and death dates as 1898-1948).

I believe this particular print dates to the 1920s or 30s.

I'll subjectively list its condition as good, with some edge-wear at the top as illustrated in my photos; nothing that distracts terribly from the beauty of the print, in my opinion, however. It has a shiny mica finish which is lovely and desirable.

Measuring approximately 10 1/8" wide and 16" high, I assume its been trimmed at some point.

Please search my store for Japanese woodblock to see others...some of which include the following:

""Woman Reading a Letter" by Utamaro Kitagawa 1783-1805.
"A Young Girl Reading Letter" by Torii Kiyonaga, born 1752 - died 1815 (artist)

Also, still researching the artists for others including a print depicting a rain scene with a man holding an umbrella for one woman with two others under a separate umbrella, plus a few others.

PLEASE NOTE THAT SHIPPING PRICE INCLUDES FULL INSURANCE AND IS AN ESTIMATE. IF YOU ARE NOT IN THE USA, PLEASE CONTACT ME DIRECTLY FOR A SHIPPING QUOTE. INSURANCE IS ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED.

I ship with the US Postal service and I am happy to discuss shipping options with you should you wish to use another service. Insurance is usually purchased separately from an outside party from the USPS. I base my shipping on current USPS prices. Oversized packages can be subject to a surcharge by the USPS. I'm happy to combine items to save on shipping costs.
Please do not return it. Items are insured through either the USPS or a third party. Simply save all packing materials and the item and contact me immediately for instructions. It's rare that a claim is necessary, but it does happen from time to time and can be a relatively simple and quick process to get your investment refunded.
Yes, I ship all over the globe. Please note that you may be charged customs fees in your country which are beyond my control. Shipping rates are based on first class mail with upgrades available upon request. The shipping fees stated includes insurance, which is required and generally adds about $2 per $100 of coverage to the shipping total.
Simply click on "SHIPPING & POLICIES" tab under the photo of the item you'd like, and your shipping price will be revealed based on your US zip code or international destination.

The shipping amount generally also includes insurance, which is purchased from an outside company. So when you receive your item, the package will often not reflect those insurance costs since it is bought online. You can go to www.usps.com to view the latest rates from which these shipping amounts are calculated.
FREE shipping on chosen items applies to first class domestic shipping and is considered a FINAL SALE. In the even of a return for any reason other than an item not being as described, my actual cost may be subtracted from the refund you receive.

EXAMPLES:

~A $100 brooch inc. FREE shipping, if returned, would receive $95 to account for my 1st class insured cost to ship, and customer is responsible for costs to ship back as well.

~A $500 brooch inc. FREE shipping, would get a refund of approx. $490 to account for my 1st class insured cost to ship.

FREE shipping offer is extended as a promotion & is VOIDED in the event of a return.

HOWEVER, if a return is due to MY mistake, there is NO cost to buyer for ANY shipping.
