Original Marc Chagall Lithograph The title of this work is "Galerie Maeght Juin 1957" Original Price, $250. Published by Andre Sauret This is an Original Lithograph on heavy woven paper. It was published by Andre Sauret in 1959 and was printed by Mourlot Freres. Art in Posters, the complete original Poster of Chagall reproduced and after the named artist Chagall as a lithograph by Mourlot Paris and edited by Andre Sauret.

This is an Original Lithograph after original Poster and measures approximately 6-1/4 inches by 9". The bottom right-hand in red reads "Mourlot Paris" Chagall plate signed this work . Artwork is in an old silver frame measuring 14-1/4 inches by 11-3/4 inches. I think this work of art could benefit from a new frame and mat, otherwise this colored lithograph is a great find!

Mourlot Studios was a commercial print shop founded in 1852 by the Mourlot family and located in Paris, France. It was also known as Imprimerie Mourlot, Mourlot Freres and Atelier Mourlot. During the course of his professional career Mourlot worked with Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque, Marc Chagall, Joan Miró, Max Ernst, Jean Dubuffet, Fernand Léger, Alberto Giacometti, and others. Fernand Mourlot (1895 – 1988) was a French lithographer who steered lithography away from its traditional use in commercial advertising toward the world of fine art.

Marc Chagall, in 1977 received the Grand Medal of the Legion of Honor, France’s highest accolade. That same year, he became one of only a handful of artists in history to receive a retrospective exhibition at the Louvre. He died on March 28, 1985, in Saint-Paul-de-Vence at age 97, leaving behind a vast collection of work along with a rich legacy as an iconic Jewish artist and pioneer of modernism.
