Dimensions

Pendant height: 1.95 Inches; Pendant width: 0.52 Inches

This pendant combines two beautiful gems: a bright orange-red mandarin garnet and a bicolor yellow-orange and green tourmaline crystal. The mandarin garnet measures 6.8 x 5.4 mm and the tourmaline measures 1.13 x 0.43 inches (2.74 x 1.09 cm). The entire pendant measures 1.91 inches (4.87 cm) and is set in sterling silver.

Mandarin garnet is known for its incredibly intense orange color and for its brightness. Unlike its sleepy cousin hessonite garnet, mandarin garnet is famed for its brilliance, and even in low light it can display a remarkable glow. This stone is an unusual example, showing a slightly redder orange than is usually seen in this variety. This gives it an even more intense glow--under a dim incandescent it looks like a hot coal. It's a really beautiful gem, beautifully cut as an oval

The bottom stone is a bicolor tourmaline. Tourmaline is famed for its bicolors, but it is rather unusual to see one like this. This stone shows a unique combination of yellow-orange and rich green. With the orange zone at the top, it seems to fade into the mandarin garnet set above. It is as if these two stones were made for one another.
