Description

Her name means "The Beautiful One Cometh"...

This 3D printed pendant is an adaptation of the iconic 3,300-year-old bust of Egyptian queen Nefertiti at the Neues Museum in Berlin.

The 3D model I used to make it comes from a purported art "heist"; in late 2015, a couple of German artists claimed to have made an unauthorized, surreptitious 3D scan of the bust by hiding a 3D scanner under their clothing and making a scan right under the museum guards' noses. They put the resulting 3D data online, and their stunt got a lot of world-wide press, including in the New York Times.

But my own investigation into their claims showed that their story was a hoax, and prompted the New York Times to publish a follow-up story about the dubious origin of this model. You can read about the whole debacle here: http://wp.me/p3KyhA-12S

Wherever this 3D data came from--stolen, faked, or scanned--the model does look quite nice. You can now wear the famous bust of Nefertiti as a pendant in a variety of materials, and tell whatever story you want about its origin.

1 1/2" wide x 2 1/4" tall

Includes an 18" black silicone cord, and the pendant's bale is large enough to accommodate a variety of chains and cording materials.

This pendant takes me around 12 days to produce before I can ship it to you. Sometimes I can get them done faster, and occasionally I have some pieces in stock. So if you need something quickly, please contact me before placing an order and I can let you know what's possible.

For delivery outside the US, please contact me before placing an order.

Note: Materials other than gold and platinum may tarnish, but can be polished bright again with a soft cloth. The steel/bronze alloy will oxidize, but can also be buffed with a soft cloth or even fine sandpaper to make bright again and bring out highlights. There is color and sheen variation from piece to piece in the steel/bronze alloy.

I wore my new silver Athena of Velletri pendant and am so very happy with it I am about to order a second one! When I had lunch with my 90+ year old mother she responded to it immediately with, "Ah, the war helmet." We spent the next hour talking about all things Ancient Greek. It made her day and mine as well. What a wonderful way to be able to use modern technology to share the classics.
