Description

Dramatic, very unusual pair of black and silver candlestick holders in the Art Nouveau/Neo Classical/Gothic style from the 1930s.

Harvite was an early plastic, also known as bakelite. The design is a silver overlay. The Hallmark on the bottom reads: TRADE MARK HARVITE.

Bakelite was an early plastic developed by Belgian-born chemist Leo Baekeland in New York in 1907. In 1933, Bakelite was designated a National Historic Chemical Landmark by the American Chemical Society in recognition of its significance as the world's first synthetic plastic. It was used for many items in the home and in jewelry and apparel accessories.

Each candlestick base is 3-1/2" in diameter and is 1-1/2" inches tall without candle. For best fit, use standard sized tapered candles.

This pair of candlesticks is in great shape and is ready to adorn your table or enhance your decor!

I actually have 3 of these candlesticks. The third one has some slight damage, I will include it with this order. You could easily use it with the slight area of damage turned away from the more readily viewable direction.

Pleased don't hesitate to message me if you have any questions.
