Description

Day of the Dead Necklace or Día de Muertos (sometimes known as Día de los Muertos) Necklace features a ceramic sugar skull paired with lampwork beads and Thailand Hill Tribes silver spacer beads. The beads are strung on leather cord the ends of which have been finished with sterling silver wire. A hammered Hill Tribes silver toggle clasp completes this necklace.

The sugar skull bead was purchased in a bead store in Vermont and is decorated with scroll work of red, blue, pink, green, purple, orange and black - it is very colorful. The two pairs of lampwork beads are from a bead store in Truckee, CA; one set is blue with pale blue and white flowers and the other is green with pink roses. They complement the sugar skull perfectly. In between the lampwork beads and the skull are Hill Tribes silver spacer beads that I purchased in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Día de Muertos or Día de los Muertos translates to Day of the Dead and is a Mexican holiday that honors and remembers deceased family members. Grave sites are cleaned and decorated with flowers, candles and offerings of food. Families get together to celebrate those who have left this world and are making a spiritual journey.

Total skull is just over an inch in length and the necklace measures a total of 19 inches. Swimming, bathing and sleeping are not recommended while wearing this necklace. Not for children under the age of 15.
