Bill Blass was legendary for designing clothes that were timeless and this dress is that - timeless. This 1980's black silk dress features a delicate sweetheart neckline and intricate beadwork and lace throughout the bust. The flowing skirt flatters every shape.

Labeled US size 8.

Bill Blass began sketching glamorous fashions in the mode of those he was seeing out of 1930s Hollywood as a boy in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He moved to New York in 1940 to attend Parsons School of Design, and then began his career at David Crystal.

After the serving in the WWII, and he briefly worked for Anne Klein, and then as an assistant to Anna Miller. Throughout the 1950s, Blass worked at Anna Miller, developing the glamorous style for which he would become known for. In 1959, Anna Miller merged with her brother's company, Maurice Rentner, and Blass became the designer. His name was put on the label in 1960. In 1962 Blass became the vice-president of the company. He bought the company in 1967, and in 1970 the name was officially changed to Bill Blass, Ltd.

Blass became major US designer, and he was in big demand for New York socialites. He expanded his business throughout the 1970s and Blass continued to dress women in glamorous styles, for the rest of his career.
