Description

20 x (22.5 x 30 cm) sheets Bondaweb

This item will be folded into an A4 polythene envelope for postage (as a large letter) so as not to create unneccesary creasing by squashing into tighter/cheaper postage

Stock arrives weekly and some weeks there may be a slight delay in postage due to a high volume of sales

Great for hemming, mending, appliqué projects
Simply iron between the two pieces of fabric you want to fuse

it is washable to 60 degrees, easy to use and can be dry-cleaned

***************************************************************

Appliqué Technique using Bondaweb

Bondaweb is a very versatile fusible material for making appliqué. On one side it is made of paper and the other is like a spun web structure of glue. It will not become sticky until it is heated by an iron or a press. It is fully washable and dry cleanable.

1. Make a template of the shape that you want, by drawing and cutting it out from paper or template plastic (acrylic), or you can use a pre-cut template

2. Choose a piece of material (fabric, felt, leather etc.) big enough to fit the shape. Cut out a piece of ‘Bondaweb’ just a little smaller.

3. Iron the ‘Bondaweb’ onto the back of the fabric

4. Draw around the template on the paper side of the ‘Bondaweb’. Do this in reverse (mirror image) of the way you want the appliqué to face on the finished item. This is important as you could end up with for example a cat sitting the wrong way round. Cut out the shape.

5. Peel off the backing paper and iron the appliqué piece onto your background material. There is no need for pins. You now can either leave it as it is or you can sew around it. The bondaweb also helps the appliqué shape to fray less

6. You can sew the shape down with a zig-zag, blanket stitch, or stitch of your own choice, depending on the stitches available on your own sewing machine

For newcomers to this product, there are plenty of tutorials, patterns and design ideas freely available for using bondaweb. Just search under bondaweb instructions on the internet and you will bring up heaps, e.g postcards, bags, cushions, no sew curtains & pelmets, books or journals. Many of these are free to use ideas and resources.
