Description

Antique shell cameo habille with diamond. Gold 14 kt Cameo ring of woman with flowers in her hair. Ring size 4.5 This ring can be resized without hurting the integrity of the ring or the cameo.

The smaller the ring the older it probably is. Remember women were much smaller a hundred years ago. If your looking at an antique ring that is a size 10 and you can not tell that it has been resized it may not be an antique.

This will be mailed priority mail with tracking, insurance and gift boxed. I will check all the stones and clean them prior to being shipped.

Please note that I am not a professional photographer and these pieces have not been cleaned prior to being photographed. They stones are so brilliant I can not get a picture of them if they are cleaned prior to taking the photo. If you would like more pictures or have a question, please don't hesitate to ask.

FYI about cameos………………………

Many of my customers over the years have requested to purchase a “real cameo”….I have to come to believe that what they are searching for is a hand carved shell cameo. However, there are many types of cameos such as “hard stone or agate” that are very real as well.

First and formost I am not an expert on cameos. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with questions or concerns.

Cameos can be signed by the artist on the back of the shell cameo.

Cameos typically depict the era of what women look like in that period. Mythology, pointy noses and chins, and civil war era clothing are normally much older than cute perky nosed little girls of the 80’s and 90’s. Cameos of elegant women wearing pearls are generally from the 50’s and 60’s. The more detailed or intricate a cameo is the higher the price.

Hard stone cameos seldom have a complete nose. It’s a fragile part of the cameo and often gets knocked around when the cameo is worn. Hard stone typically refers to agate, but is any stone or gem other than a shell or molded glass or plastic cameo.

Shell cameos come in many colors.

Angel skin cameos are carved from the pinkest part of the shell and will always be a very soft pink.

Coral cameos are an orangey salmon color.

Rolled Gold Definition: a hybrid material, consisting of a thin layer of gold that's mechanically bonded or heat-fused to one or both sides of a base metal (often brass or copper), then rolled out into sheets to create jewelry; the thickness of the gold layer can vary, but is generally at least 5% of the total metal weight (vs. gold-plated, which uses a thinner sheet of gold); patented in England in 1817, it became a prime source for semi-precious and better-quality costume jewelry in the Victorian era; saw a renewed surge of popularity in 1920s and 1930s, especially in utilitarian objects such as watches and fountain pens

FAQs

My Grandmother taught me to use plain toothpaste and an old soft toothbrush to clean jewelry. Both the costume and the good stuff.........I have always done this, because she told me to.......However, I was watching an episode of Antique Roadshow one night and they said the same thing! When I heard that I just grinned and thought of her. Its getting hard to find toothpaste without any additives but I go to a dollar store and can find it there. Remember to wash your jewelry and trees over a bowl just in case a stone comes out.
