Description

Vintage Betthupferlhase or Nighcap Rabbit manufactured by Steiff in Germany between 1968-1972. Among other animals, Steiff manufactured four rabbits. This rabbit — has a mohair head, ears, and arms. She dons a stiff green felt dress, an off white felt apron and two red buttons. There is a white bow with slightly frayed ends at the back of the dress. None of the Bethupferlhase have bodies beneath their dresses as this is where chocolate treats were to be hidden. Her stiff paper "Steiff" tag (located slightly off to the side because of the central placement of the buttons) is attached to her dress. While this rabbit's ear has the Steiff button, no tag is attached to it. However, there is no doubt that this is 3173/15, the rabbit in a green dress. Her eyes are made out of glass and her nose and mouth are stitched with embroidery thread. The rabbit is 15 cm, stands firmly, and is in excellent condition (see photos).
