This fused black glass Hamsa Amulet with Dichroic symbols measures 12 X 9 inches. it is an original, one of a kind piece. It comes ready to hang with a chain.

Dichroic glass is costly because the glass is treated with various metal oxides to make it appear to have many colors. Developed for use in the American space program, dichroic glass is now popular as a jewelry and art material. To make dichroic glass, the glass must be sprayed with micro-layers of metals, usually including titanium, chromium, gold, zirconium, and aluminum. This is conducted in a vacuum chamber, which evaporates the metals and fuses them to the glass in extremely thin layers. The fusion process creates a crystalline structure on the glass, which causes light to fracture. Each piece of dichroic glass has at least three colors: the color that reflects from the glass, the color of the glass, and a second refracted color that can be seen at a 45 degree angle. The process requires special equipment, and can be quite expensive to produce. It is quite difficult to photograph well as the glass reflects different colors from different angles and light. It is exceptionally beautiful in all different lights and well worth the added expense.
Symbolism of the Hamsa:

The hamsa has been interpreted by scholars as a Jewish, Christian, or Islamic amulet, and as a pagan fertility symbol.

Hamsa is believed to be representative of the right hand of the human body. In all faiths it is a protective symbol for protection against evil and destructive forces. It is also a symbol of blessing, fortune, wealth, health, happiness, power and strength.

The five fingers of the Hamsa hand remind its wearer to use their five senses to praise God. Hamsa hands often contain an eye symbol, which is a powerful talisman against the evil eye.
The evil eye, when Horus opened its eyes the world was enlightened, when closed, it became dark. The eye reflects the evil intent back to the onlooker, it is said the typical blue color is a factor in protecting the user.

The fish is a universal symbol of fertility.

The heart is universally known and used as a symbol of love and devotion.

The dove, throughout the ancient world and to this day the Dove is held as the most prevalent symbol for peace, security and love.

The rising sun, a symbol of life, power, strength, energy, force, clarity, self.

Triple Goddess symbol, representing the three aspects of the moon (waxing, waning, and full) and three ages of womankind (mother, maiden, crone), as well as the Lady, or Goddess, the feminine polarity of the universe.

The Lotus flower is known to symbolize purity of speech, of the body, and of the mind, a rebirth. Perhaps the major Lotus flower symbolism is its association with spiritual awakening or enlightenment. It also led the great Chinese Philosopher Confucius to state “I have a love for the Lotus, while growing in mud it still remains unstained”.

Blue will help sooth tempestuous emotions as it has a lovely calming effect.

Violet expresses childlike love, innocence, purity, and a sweet kindness that is equivalent to unconditional divine love.
