You have to love the fact that while items such as this vintage Swingline Stapler served it's usefully intended purpose, it was also so heavy and well-made that it could double as a paperweight or personal weapon to fend off aggressive officemates! This stapler packs a hefty punch, weighing over 2 pounds!

I can barely imagine either of the latter with a new model stapler of today!

This rugged industrial stapler was made by Swingline...most likely in the late 1930's or early 1940's from the patent number presented on the bottom. Featuring rubber grips for no-slide stillness (perhaps offices were very unbalanced back then!), on the bottom it reads "Swingline,Inc., Long Island City, N.Y., Pat. No. 2,136,374 Made in U.S.A.

In great vintage condition, it is aged to perfection, with minimal wear to it's classic gray finish. Spotting is seen on some of the accompanying metal hardware, yet the signature round push-down top handle still brightly displays it's "Swingline" logo.

Top loads the staples with a pull-out tensioner. I don't have any of the appropriate staples on hand to test it but it's hard to imagine that it does not still work just fine!

"Use only Genuine Swingline No. 13 High Carbon Staples" is displayed with exact width specifications of needed staples.

Measures 7-1\/2" in length, and 5" in height.

A perfect find for your retro office!
