Description

I have acquired a large vintage, hand-made cross stitch panel, showing what I believe is an Alpine village scene. The view is from a balcony, standing behind a table with a plate and a cup of coffee where a bird is helping himself from the plate, while another looks on. We see down the street to the church tower and the mountains going off in to the distance. Flowers, that appear to be clematis frame the balcony.

The piece is on linen approximately 27.5"by 32" (70 cms by 81 cms) and the design is 23" by 18.5" (58.5 cms by 47 cms). Sadly, the design hasn't been centred and there is only half an inch (plus a small hem) of spare fabric at the top. There are 11 stitches per inch.

The back has been finished off quite neatly and does not show through to the front.

There has been many hours of work put in to this by its original maker.

This has been washed by me, prior to being listed, and we are a non-smoking house
