I styled the "A Maze Zing" mandala to look like a maze that goes ever inward, without it actually being a maze.

"Crystalite" started out as a mandala design for a local festival poster competition with the theme being about microscopic nature. While it appears simple, it's one of my more complex designs where it starts out on top with a simple star trek communicator-like pattern that repeats downward by 30° at each level...like taking a stack of napkins and twisting them to make a spiral of napkins.

"Deco" represents my relationship with my father, where I finally realized that we both wanted to same thing: for the other to be happy. It only became a problem when we tried to force our version of happiness onto the other.

My first attempt at incorporating middle eastern geometric patterns into mandalas appears in the "Mosaic" mandala.

For the "Sacred Geometry" mandala I used sacred geometry, or in the mathematical world, the golden ratio. The relationships to just about everything in this mandala used the golden ratio, phi, which roughly translates to 0.6.

Starting in 2005, I decided to create a different snowflake mandala each winter/holiday season. This coloring book includes "Snowflake 2005", "Snowflake 2006", and "Snowflake 2007".

Happy Coloring!
Maureen, The Mandala Lady

I create my own mandala designs by first hand sketching them with pencil and paper, then using a graphics tablet and stylus, I draw the mandala into the computer. I print the coloring book pages on 110lb card stock paper, punch the holes, add the coil binding and then place them in a protective clear bag.

I began creating mandalas in early 1999 after a 10-day trip to Egypt. Through much of that region of the world patterns and symbols decorated just about every structure I visited, whether ancient, old or new. My analytical mind loved the geometry of the Islamic art and the Egyptian hieroglyphics. My heart and soul loved their elegant and symbolic beauty.

When I returned home, I began seeing patterns and symbols in everything around me, even in my dreams. I proceeded to translate these intriguing ideas into mandalas. In early 2000 I learned to use meditation as a way to access the depth of these mandalas, fully exploring their therapeutic and metaphysical natures.

These 8 mandalas are original, copyrighted designs, intended for personal, non-commercial use only. Reproduction, distribution, sale, and/or resale in any way, shape or form is prohibited.
