This is a beautiful but distressed Burgundy Coach Stewardess Bag made in the 1980's before the style numbers were assigned but after Coach expanded to add factories in the U.S.A.. Coach eventually assigned this bag style # 9525. The Coach pre-orderly creed registration number is: 0200-938

This is a medium to large sized shoulder bag. This bag has solid brass hardware, including a solid brass turn lock, brass buckles, and a brass zippered interior pocket. It also has brass feet to protect the base of the bag. It has a leather slip pocket between the flap and the interior. It has a leather strap that drops 18". The 7 x 5 inch pocket under the flap is the perfect size for today's cell phones. My Samsung S 4 fit in perfectly. I have a catalog photo of a Stewardess Bag from 1987 in the collage [photo 5]. But this bag goes way back and this is what Coach had to say about this bag back in 1982:

"No. 9525 stewardess bag $110 [ $277 in 2016 dollars]

"Regulation flight attendant shoulder bag with extra large carrying capacity. Handy pocket right under the flap and a zipper compartment inside. The Stirrup buckles and the industrial turn lock are solid brass. Brass "feet" protect the bottom from scuffing. Black, Mocha, Tabac, BritishTtan, Burgundy, Navy, Putty, Red. Dimensions: 11" x 11" x 4"

Length: 11"
Width: 4"
Height: 11"
Strap drop: 18"

Condition of bag :

Beautiful but distressed burgundy aptly describes the condition of this bag. The bag is structurally sound but there are a number of tears in the beading at different areas of this bag. There is also some lose stitching in the area where the strap anchors meet the body of the bag. In addition, there are some stains on the front under flap that look like faint light streaks. Additionally, like most bags from the eighties there is wear in the form of scratching, scuffing, and wrinkles. There are also some some small dark spots on the strap. Please see photos and zoom in for closer inspection. This bag does have a hang tag that appears to be the original. Finally, this bag has a very slight musty odor.

Depending on your personality and point of view, this bag could be the focal point of your retro distressed look or your next Coach Rehab project. Either way you'll be the only one in the room with a beautiful burgundy Stewardess when you walk in with your newest acquisition.
