Details

This original Framed Acrylic Painting was inspired by photos of the Sea Stacks off the Pacific Coast. I loved how the rocks had broken colors in the water reflections below. This is an original, one of a kind, acrylic painting. It comes with the black frame with the glass front shown in view 1. It would make a wonderful gift for yourself or someone special. It is not a photograph or a print.

Title of Artwork: "Somewhere Out There"

The painting for sale is shown in Views 1 and 2. It is framed as shown in view 1. The second view shows the painting unframed. This small decorative painting could be tucked into any tabletop decorative display for a bright touch of seasonal color.

The 1/2" thick black frame allows the small painting to sit alone on a tabletop, to be displayed on a plate stand, or to be hung on a wall using the slot in the back of the frame. The frame back can also be punched out and the attached piece will make the painting stand as if it were a framed photograph. The 'PLATE - STAND' shown in View 1 is not included - but the black frame is included.

About the Artist

Pat is primarily a self-taught artist. She studied briefly with Lynne Koerner and Elisabeth Ferber in Florida, and has supplemented this instruction with an extensive collection of books and video tapes from well known artists. Pat has particularly admired the works of the Hudson River School of Painters in both their choice of subject matter and their treatment of light, and has studied the paintings of the Luminists and the Impressionists. Her style can be characterized as a 'Realistic Impressionism' because of her bold use of color and her preference for 'suggesting' rather than 'detailing' features in her paintings

Born in the northeast United States, she grew up enjoying the great outdoors, and spent countless hours hiking, boating, swimming and enjoying area activities. She loved the variety of weather, and was as happy ice skating on a frozen pond as she was body surfing the waves at Long Island's Jones Beach. She loved going for long trail rides on horseback, or sailing a racing class boat on unpredictable Long Island Sound.

Her love of the changing seasons ranged easily from enjoyment of the crisp days of October with their breathtaking display of autumn leaves, to the delight of waking up to an overnight snowfall which had transformed familiar objects into a virtual wonderland of unusual shapes and mounds. She loved to hear the crunch of snow beneath her boots on a frigid January morning, but also enjoyed watching for the first returning Robin, examining the barren tree branches for signs of swelling buds, and searching the thawing grounds in March to see if the crocus and daffodils had poked their heads above the dwindling snow cover to announce the coming of Spring.

The theme of Pat's artwork has always been - The World Around Us. Pat feels that although we are surrounded by natural beauty, our lives are often so busy and stressed out, we don't take the time to notice it.

Several of her collectors have told her that they like to hang her paintings in their homes and offices. Then, when life becomes unusually stressful, they look at one of her paintings, and it momentarily takes them out of their current situation to a more peaceful time, and they feel refreshed.

Pat lived in Florida for over 30 years, and even now she still marvels at the incredible beauty of its sunrises, sunsets and it's very colorful foliage and tropical flowers. Although many of her paintings reflect her experience with these colorful skies and foliage, she feels that her roots are still deep in the New England area, which explains her many paintings of the mountains, streams and woodland areas of the northeast, and from her current home in the Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountain areas of North Carolina and Tennessee.

She has also traveled extensively to our National Parks in Colorado, California and the Southwest, and along the Atlantic coastline, always taking pictures of the countryside. Her goal as an artist is to try to recapture the beauty of these places on canvas so she can share it with others.

Collectors and Awards:

Pat's painting hang in private collections throughout the U.S. and Canada, and also in Spain, the U.K. France and Australia. She has found the internet to be a great way to expose her artwork to people who would otherwise be unable to see it. Her paintings have also earned numerous awards in the Silver Arts Competition in Western North Carolina's Henderson County.

Exhibitions:

Pat's paintings have been exhibited at the Gallery on Virginia, Ocoee City Hall, Downtown Orlando Library, Maitland Civic Center, Beardall Senior Center, Creative Spirit Gallery and Galaxy Aviation, all in the Greater Orlando area, and at the Opportunity House in Hendersonville, North Carolina. She had a two month long solo artist show at Apopka City Hall in Apopka, Florida.

This painting is offered for sale on the internet at a price substantially lower than you would pay at an outside gallery. The artist does not need to pay gallery commissions, and the purchaser is free to frame the artwork to suit his or her own decor.
