Jim Thompson Silk Cushion Cover- Embroidered with Shasta Daisy: This pale pink cushion cover is made of 100 percent Thai silk and measures 15 ½ "(39.4 cm) square with the machine embroidered signature of Jim Thompson in the bottom right hand corner. I have chosen this background to hand embroider a flower using dozens of French Knots (the name of this particular embroidery stitch). The stem utilizes the chain stitch and there are air-borne "seed pods" on this cover which does not include the insert. In attempting to keep the design delicate I have chosen a monochromatic palate. A nylon zipper forms the closure and to save you the added shipping expense, does not include an insert.

For those of you who don't know this name, "Jim" Thompson was an American business man and adventurer who moved to Thailand and helped revitalize the Thai silk industry in the 1950s and 1960s. His first break was in the design of many of the clothes for the original broadway production of The King and I. He mysteriously disappeared in 1967 in the Malaysian jungle, leaving his original vintage designs for posterity. The last photo is of his house in Bangkok. The 4th photo is of another Jim Thompson I found under my vintage heading.

The third photo shows a vintage cushion cover available on my other site (below)
