This Coif is designed to recreate the typical blackwork coif of the Elizabethan era. The blackwork is replicated by appliques of black and white patterned fabric, and the outlines and vines are fabric dimensional paint. The design is based on research into existing coif designs, and the structure of the coif is based on the information presented in Janet Arnold's Patterns of Fashion 4 on page 46 and 103.

The coif is painted on a linen cotton blend fabric. The finished coif is washable in cold water, and can be ironed from the inside with a press cloth to protect the fabric paint. Treat as a delicate washable.

The Patterns and research are available as a seperate item. I have created 18 seperate motifs that fit into standard vine overlays, that can be mixed and matched to design your own coif.
